Youth Farm Project Apprentice Program
The Community Food Bank’s Marana Heritage Farm announces Part Two of the Youth Farm Project Apprentice Program. Apprentices will take part in all aspects of food production, including planting, harvesting, greenhouse cultivation, soil building, garden design, irrigation, marketing and distribution. There will also be projects on farm infrastructure, animal husbandry, as well as cooking and nutrition. Workdays will be on Saturdays from 7-11 AM, July 11-August 29.
StoryFlandrau’s Observatory Remains Open To The Public
Thanks to a number of dedicated astronomy volunteers, Flandrau Science Center’s 16-inch telescope, the largest public viewing telescope in Southern Arizona, remains open for public viewing. Due to the volunteers, the observatory will continue to operate despite the announcement earlier in the year that Flandrau Science Center will be closed to the public due to state budget cuts.
