Comedy Is Not A Joke
04:05 PM MST on Wednesday, July 16, 2008
It’s a night of stand-up comedy and film-making. A live comedy show featuring five local comedians will be video-taped. A portion of the footage will be used in a documentary called “Comedy Is Not A Joke,” written and produced by William Ackerley and directed by Nathan P. Ginn. A portion of the proceeds from the live comedy show will be donated to the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus “Pass The Hat Travel Fund.”
"Comedy Is Not A Joke” is a short film that challenges a comedic actor who has never performed stand-up comedy to learn a routine and perform it before a live audience.
The live event, entitled "Comedy Is Not A Joke Show" will also feature local comedians Daniel Geffre, Brian Mulligan, and Jacob Brekenridge. Veteran Tucson comedian Walt Maxam will serve as master of ceremonies. 7 PM, July 27, Live Theater Workshop, 5317 E. Speedway.
Advance sale tickets for open seating at the event are $7.50 and may be purchased at Ackerley Advertising, The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus or Live Theatre Workshop.
