Dining in the Dark
05:23 PM MST on Tuesday, April 15, 2008
Hosted by Sun Sounds, it’s an evening full of sensory experiences. Arrive between 6 and 6:30 PM to mingle, enjoy a complimentary drink, listen to harpist Joel Taylor, view and bid on the silent auction items, and peruse the visual aids showcased by Desert Low Vision. Photographer, Garvin Larson, will be on hand to immortalize your evening.
Around 6.30 PM, guests will be given blindfolds (theirs to keep) and taken into the dining area by sighted guides. Some of these guides will be local celebrities (Joan Lee, Jeff Davis, Jeff Pierce, Betsy Bruce) – giving diners their first chance to challenge their hearing/listening skills. The sighted guides will stay at the tables to help guests.
Once seated the taste buds are tantalized as is the sense of direction -- there will be four little cups on your plate filled with munchies for you to taste/smell. Dinner will then be served at 7 PM and is a surprise. The menu will be revealed upon completion of the evening. It will consist of a starter, entrée and dessert. Please inform us if you have any food allergies. Upon conclusion of the meal Sonoran Sounds will sing to close out the evening. Saturday, May 10, Desert Diamond Hotel Casino on Nogales Highway.
Reservations can be made by stopping by the Sun Sounds of Arizona studio, 7290 E Broadway, Ste 166 or by calling 296-2400. Reservations must be made by May 2, 2008.
