A Taste of Arizona
Hosted by Arizona Youth Partnership (AzYP), the 3rd Annual “A Taste of Arizona” is a fundraiser to benefit Arizona’s youth in rural communities.  A live and silent auction will showcase youth artwork from AzYP communities and other auction gifts such as art and jewelry.  Wine tasting and appetizers will be served from various local restaurants. Wednesday, May 14, 5:30-8 PM, Reflections at the Buttes, 9800 N. Oracle Road.

Tucson Women’s Chorus
The Tucson Women’s Chorus is an a cappella group singing chants, rounds and songs from many cultures and traditions around the world. The Tucson Women’s Chorus Spring Benefit Concert will be held Saturday, May 17,  7 PM, in the sanctuary of St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, 3809 E. 3rd St. Concert donations will support the chorus and the Pat Dell Memorial Scholarship Fund.

International Museum Day
International Museum Day has been recognized worldwide since 1977, and the International Wildlife Museum in Tucson celebrates again this year by offering free admission with a donation of non-perishable food items for the Tucson Community Food Bank.  May 19, 9 AM-5 PM, 4800 W. Gates Pass Rd. (5 miles west of I-10 on Speedway Blvd.)

Pet Health Symposium
The event, presented by Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, is open to the public and the veterinary community.  Specialists will be speaking throughout the day on topics pertaining to pet care and education.  Information from the $20.00 admission fee will be donated to H.O.P.E and S.A.F.E.   May 24, 10 AM-2 PM, Sheraton Hotel Grant Road, between Swan and Craycroft.

Cinema La Placita
The Loft at Cinema La Placita kicks off its 9th season in May with a new name, its very first double-feature, and a tribute to Charlton Heston. Cinema La Placita is now called “The Loft at Cinema La Placita.”  As always, films begin at 7:30 PM every Thursday evening, May through October, and are located in the outdoor plaza of La Placita Village in downtown Tucson. Recorded information is available at 326-5282. Summer Camp at the International Wildlife Museum
Experience a wild summer of fun! Discover the enormous diversity of animals and habitats in your own backyard and around the world at the International Wildlife Museum.  Museum explorations, games, science experiments, crafts and hands-on activities are just part of the fun! Monday, June 2 - August 8, 8 AM-4 PM (various age groups end at different times). International Wildlife Museum, 4800 W. Gates Pass Rd.  (5 miles west of I-10 on Speedway).

“Drive Away Hunger Car Raffle”
The Community Food Bank announces the 2008 “Drive Away Hunger” car raffle,March 17-June 13. The winner will have a choice of a 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid or $25,000. The raffle will help the Community Food Bank raise funds for its emergency food box program that is vitally important to over 10,000 low income families who struggle to make ends meet each month. Raffle tickets are $25 each or five tickets for $100 and are available at www.communityfoodbank.org or by calling 622-0525 x 492. Entries must be received by Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 4 PM. A maximum of 5500 tickets will be sold.

Living Fossils Exhibit
What is a Living Fossil?  Charles Darwin was the first to use the term "living fossil" in 1859.  Today, the term living fossil has multiple definitions and includes animals such as coelacanths, birds and cockroaches.  Come see examples of this strange and interesting concept, and learn more about what makes an animal a living fossil.  April 1 - Sept. 1, International Wildlife Museum, 4800 W. Gates Pass Rd.
