05:23 PM MST on Tuesday, July 22, 2008
(WHAS)—They came to Louisville to be the next American Idol. Some made it and others did not, but they stood in a long line all to get a chance to sing their hearts out.
Nearly 10,000 people waited for their chance to audition for American Idol Monday at Freedom Hall.
American Idol hopefuls had to register for the audition and pick up their wristbands on Saturday and Sunday. Auditions began Monday morning.
Louisville is just one city on the list of audition sites that include San Francisco, Phoenix and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Those lucky few that made it through Monday’s auditions will get a chance to meet Randy, Simon and Paula in September at Churchill downs.
