Royal NormanAnchor/Meteorologist
Royal Norman and his wife, Nancy, moved to Arizona (the first time) in the summer of 1981. As they drove into town that August afternoon, they were met by a huge dust storm. "Surely it will rain," they said to each another. It did not. Thus, they were introduced to Arizona weather.
Norman graduated with a degree in Meteorology-Climatology from Arizona State University in 1984.
In 1994, Norman was an integral part of the crew that launched "Good Morning Arizona," which, as it turns out, was destined to become one of the top-rated local morning shows in the country.
Two years later, Norman moved his family to Atlanta, where he was the chief meteorologist at WXIA-TV, the NBC affiliate. His favorite part of that job was chasing hurricanes -- something that never happened in Arizona. In the summer of 1999, Norman and his family returned to the Grand Canyon State.
