PHOENIX (AP) — The Scottsdale City Council has fired City Manager John Little.
The council voted 4-3 Monday to terminate Little's contract. He became acting city manager in April 2008 and was elevated to the permanent post in February.
Little's dismissal came six weeks after the council narrowly voted to extend his tenure for 90 days from the date of his six-month performance evaluation in September.
In recent months, Little and members of the council majority have disagreed over how to reconfigure the Scottsdale treasurer's office. Little had worried that some of the proposed changes would diminish the city manager's powers and responsibilities.
The council will consider a proposal Tuesday to shift most of the Scottsdale's financial-services employees out from the city manager's office and into the treasurer's office.
