PHOENIX (AP) -- Shelley Clemens has been named to lead the U.S. Attorney's Office in Tucson.
Clemens succeeds Lynnette Kimmins, who went back to a prosecutor's position in the Tucson office. She stepped down last fall and Robert Miskell, the chief of the criminal division in Tucson, has served as acting chief assistant.
Clemens has been a deputy chief in the criminal division since January 2008 with responsibilities for violent crimes occurring within the Tohono O'odham Nation and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and assaults on federal law enforcement officers.
As chief assistant, Clemens will run and manage the Tucson office, which has 71 attorneys plus support staff.
Prior to coming to the Tucson office, Clemens was the first assistant in the Washington County (Okla.) District Attorney's Office.
