GEORGE CARLIN, JUDY GARLAND AND GENE KELLY - GRAMMY HALL OF FAME

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — Maybe George Carlin knew when he first spoke those seven words you can never say on television, that he'd eventually be honored for it. The comedy album that segment comes from is being added to the Grammy Hall of Fame. "Class Clown" came out in 1972. It's one of 25 recordings being added by the Grammy people this week. The other recordings are music from classics like James Brown, Louis Armstrong, the Beach Boys, Janis Joplin and more. Plus, a duet by Judy Garland and Gene Kelly is being named to the Grammy Hall of Fame. The song is "For Me and My Gal" from the 1942 movie of the same name.

COMPLAINTS AGAINST MTV ITALIAN-AMERICAN REALITY SHOW

FAIRFIELD, N.J. (AP) — An upcoming MTV reality series that shows Italian-American beachgoers as the "hottest, tannest, craziest Guidos" is offensive to Italian-Americans and should not air. That's what an Italian-American organization says. UNICO National says "Jersey Shore" relies on crude stereotypes and highlights cursing, bad behavior and violence in showing renters at a New Jersey beach house. A promo describes those in the show like this: "They keep their hair high, their muscles juiced and their fists pumping all summer long!" The head of the Italian-American group says the show is "trash television." But a spokeswoman for MTV says "Jersey Shore" continues the channel's history of documenting various subcultures and young people's rites of passage. She says the Italian-American cast "takes pride in their ethnicity." It's scheduled to debut December 3.

TV RATINGS

NEW YORK (AP) — Despite strong ratings from "Dancing With the Stars" and the American Music Awards, both on ABC, it was CBS that took the week. Of the 11 most popular dramas or comedies in prime-time last week, 10 were CBS shows. ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" was the only exception. After CBS and ABC, NBC is in third, followed by Fox. Here are last week's top-10 TV shows: "NCIS," ''Dancing With the Stars," NFL Football: Philadelphia at Chicago, "Dancing With the Stars Results," ''60 Minutes," ''The Mentalist," ''CSI," ''NCIS: Los Angeles," the AMAs and "Grey's Anatomy."
