SPRINGSTEEN, MEL BROOKS, DE NIRO GETTING KENNEDY CENTER HONORS THIS WEEKEND

WASHINGTON (AP) -- It's not a candygram waiting for Mel Brooks this weekend. It's a medal signifying he's a Kennedy Center honoree. Brooks will be honored along with Bruce Springsteen and Robert De Niro at a gala that will be taped to air on CBS later this month. The honorees will also get to meet President Obama and have dinner at the State Department.

MILEY'S TATTOO

UNDATED (AP) -- It wasn't just the skimpy bikini that had people staring at Miley Cyrus at a hotel pool in Miami Beach. A tattoo was spotted underneath her left breast. It's the words "Just Breathe." Photos are on the Internet. No word on whether the tattoo is a permanent one.

''ME AND ORSON WELLES" - ZAC EFRON

WASHINGTON (AP) -- What Zac Efron does with his mouth in his new movie may amaze his fans. Efron is able to throw a peanut way up in the air and catch it in his mouth while walking down the street. It was his idea to have his character do this in "Me and Orson Welles." He also shows a knack for lighting a wooden match with one hand. Efron joked to AP Radio that it reminded him of his younger days when he was "a bit of a pyromaniac." Efron's first serious movie role opens in more theaters today. He hopes it shows people he's more than Troy from the "High School Musical" movies.

WRITER OF ELVIS' "IT'S NOW OR NEVER" DIES

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. (AP) -- The guy who wrote "It's Now or Never" for Elvis has died. Aaron Schroeder wrote a total of 2,000 songs including the theme for "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" As a producer, Schroeder also helped make stars of Jimi Hendrix and Barry White. Schroeder had been suffering from a form of Alzheimer's. He was 84.

TWISTED SISTER GUITAIST HAS EMERGENCY BACK SURGERY

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Twisted Sister guitarist Eddie Ojeda is recuperating from emergency back surgery. Ojeda went under the knife after the pain in his back got so bad he couldn't stand or sit. Turns out he had a ruptured disc. His bandmate Jay French says Ojeda is feeling better and hopes to be back on the tour this Sunday.

''MONK" ENDS TONIGHT AFTER 8 SEASONS

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Big questions will be answered tonight when "Monk" ends its run on the USA Network after eight seasons. Will Monk survive being poisoned? Will Monk solve his wife's murder -- or is she still alive? And what was the "terrible" thing that happened to Trudy before they met that she refers to in the video Monk watched in the previous episode? Tony Shalhoub says fans will probably have a mixed reaction to the finale. He figures they'll "feel good for him, bad for him, frustrated for him" while "hoping for his success and for his healing."

CANDY SPELLING AND DAUGHTER TORI MAKE UP

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- One of Hollywood's longest-running mother-and-daughter feuds is over. Candy Spelling says she and Tori are speaking again. Spelling says she's gotten to spend time with her two grandchildren, including Stella, who she'd never met. Spelling will be a panelist on the E! reality show "Band of Hollywood" that starts December 14th.

''ARMORED" - COLUMBUS SHORT

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Laurence Fishburne took advantage of his co-star in "Armored" being a "Matrix" fan. Columbus Short says the first day he got to the set, Fishburne came up behind him, pulled his head back and stuck a pin in his neck. Then, in his best Morpheus voice, Fishburne said "This may feel a little weird." Short says he turned around, saw it was Fishburne and freaked out. Armored opened today.

ROMAN POLANSKI NOW UNDER HOUSE ARREST AT HIS CHALET IN SWITZERLAND

GSTAAD, Switzerland (AP) -- Roman Polanski is living in some fancy digs now. After spending two months in a Swiss jail, Polanski is back at his chalet under house arrest. He's with his wife and two kids. Polanski is wearing an ankle bracelet that doesn't let him leave. He'll stay there until Swiss authorities decide whether to return him to Los Angeles to face sentencing for having sex with a 13-year-old girl 32 years ago.

LAST OF THE CLANCY BROTHERS HAS DIED

DUBLIN (AP) -- The last of the Clancy brothers has died. Liam Clancy was part of the Irish group that helped lead the folk revival in the 60s. Bob Dylan once called him "the best ballad singer" he'd ever heard. Clancy died at a hospital in Cork, Ireland. He was 74. His brother Tom died in 1990, Patrick died in 1998 and the other member of the Clancy brothers group Tommy Makem died in 2007.

MAN CLAIMING TO HAVE TIES WITH TOMMY LEE JONES GOING TO JAIL

GEORGETOWN, Texas (AP) -- A guy who got free stuff by claiming to know Tommy Lee Jones is going to jail. Michael Tissier was sentenced to 18 months behind bars. He pleaded guilty to getting thousands of dollars in clothing by telling a company that it was for a fundraiser.
