PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix hit a new record high Saturday when the temperature reached 102 degrees at the National Weather Service reporting station at Sky Harbor International Airport.
The old record was 100 degrees set in 2003.
The temperature was 102 at the airport at 3 p.m.
Other high readings included Mesa at 102, Glendale at 100 and Luke Air Force Base at 100.
A strong high pressure system over the Western states is forecast to shift east on Sunday.
Forecasters say Sunday high temperatures should fall a few degrees and Monday's highs should drop to the mid 90s.
