DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) — Federal authorities say they have seized nearly 700 pounds of marijuana at the Douglas port of entry.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were screening travelers and vehicles Sunday night when they came in contact with a 20-year-old Douglas man driving a truck.
The vehicle was inspected and authorities discovered that the bed of the F-150 had been completely altered to accommodate the concealment of nearly 700 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1.1 million.
Officers seized the vehicle and marijuana and the man was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution.
The man's name was not released.
