YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — A mistrial has been declared in the murder trial of a Yuma woman accused of hiring a hit man to kill her husband in 1997.

Yuma County Superior Court Judge Larry Kenworthy did not publicly state Monday why he declared the mistrial.

Kay Cloud's new trial has been scheduled for Jan. 28. She still faces charges of first-degree murder, solicitation to commit first-degree murder and hindering prosecution.

Authorities say 55-year-old Kenneth Cloud — a farmer in Bard, Calif. — was fatally shot while sitting in his pickup truck outside a restaurant on Dec. 9, 1997. He later died at a Yuma hospital.

In June 2008, 60-year-old Vincent Lee Accardo was convicted of first-degree murder in Kenneth Cloud's slaying and sentenced to death.
