SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) — An Army soldier hiking in a wilderness area on Fort Huachuca discovered a woman's body Saturday afternoon.
Post Public Affairs Officer Angela Moncur said the soldier was hiking in Scheelite Canyon in the Huachuca Mountains when he came upon the body.
Moncur said the soldier called the military police. MP's and crime investigators arrived to investigate the finding.
Moncur said it appears the woman died within the last 90 days.
She wasn't carrying identification, however investigators found some documents written in Spanish which suggest the woman is an illegal immigrant.
Moncur said the body was turned over to the Cochise County Medical Examiner's Office for additional processing to determine cause of death and possible identification.
