PHOENIX (AP) — A bee attack Thursday evening has injured two women and a bystander who tried to help.
Two women out for an evening walk were attacked by an angry swarm around 3rd Avenue and Bell Road.
Witnesses said the women were covered in bees and received hundreds of painful stings.
The victims were rushed to the hospital after the attacks. The two most seriously injured are listed in critical condition and the bystander who helped was also hospitalized.
A witness told KTVK-TV she heard screaming and saw the women laying in the street covered in bees from head to toe.
Phoenix firefighters searched for the hive and eventually found it and took it down.
Officials warn people to stay away from bee swarms and avoid loud noises or wild movements that may disturb the bees.
