YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — Drivers heading to Yuma next week need to be aware of overnight closures of Interstate 8 within the city limits as the Arizona Department of Transportation works to complete a major widening project along 16th Street.
ADOT said Friday that beginning March 23, crews will begin placing concrete box beams on the 16th Street Bridge over I-8. The beams will support the roadway along 16th Street once construction is complete late this summer.
Interstate 8 will be closed four nights next week between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Westbound I-8 at 16th Street will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. The eastbound I-8 will be closed Thursday and Friday.
During the closures, traffic will be detoured off the interstate at the 16th Street exit.
