PHOENIX (AP) — A pest control expert in the Phoenix metropolitan area says prime bee season is just beginning.

Sage Garvey with Burns Pest Elimination says temperatures of 75 or warmer bring out bee activity.

Two women out for an evening walk Thursday in Phoenix were attacked by a swarm of bees that also stung a bystander who tried to help the women.

Garvey has mapped out bee hot spots in the area — including Apache Junction, Mesa, Queen Creek, Chandler and Tempe north of US 60.

Garvey says bees in north Phoenix are most active near Cave Creek and Carefree, and there are bee problems around Buckeye.

He says bees also are active in parts of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills.
