PHOENIX (AP) — The U.S. Attorney in Arizona announced Tuesday that a Casa Grande man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for killing his cousin.
Authorities said 26-year-old Gabriel Castelum stabbed his cousin, 19-year-old Loren Anthony Gastelum, approximately 12 times during an argument Oct. 13, 2007 over a bag of potato chips.
Federal prosecutors said that both men had been drinking and smoking marijuana before the fatal stabbing on the Tohono (toh-HO'-noh) Oodham Nation.
Gastelum pleaded guilty on Feb. 16, 2009 to second degree murder.
