TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Thunderstorms have caused several power outages in Tempe.

Arizona Public Service officials say 1,800 of its Tempe customers currently are without power.

APS says the outage occurred at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the area of Rio Salado Parkway, Broadway Road and Mill Avenue.

Crews are at the scene, but power has yet to be restored.

Salt River Project officials say they have 3,500 Tempe customers without power due to the weather. They say it may take a few hours to restore electricity.

The National Weather Service says Tempe received about half an inch of rain in a one-hour period Thursday afternoon.
