The military's next generation of fighter jets won't be landing in Tucson, for now.

Pentagon officials picked Luke Air Force base in Glendale as the preferred training location for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.  They could get up to three 24-jet squadrons. Three other states are in the running.

Tucson International Airport could be selected as a training site if the Air Force later expands the F-35 program.
