08:31 PM MST on Wednesday, February 27, 2008
The U of A student organization BLACK, which stands for Bringing Legends and Creating Knowledge will sponsor a Black History Month celebration on Friday, February 29 from 6 to 10 p.m. on the University of Arizona mall. A number of performers will take part in the event including several comedians from BET television. Food vendors will also be on hand.
The theme of the celebration is “Youth – The Next Pandemic,” as the BET entertainers will help to raise awareness of the affect of Lupus, AIDS and HIV both on and off campus. There will also be a panel of successful African-Americans discussing issues important to the black community. The event is open to UA students and the entire Tucson community.
