Mechanic accused of stealing night goggles

A former Customs and Border Protection (CBP) mechanic has been indicted on charges of stealing a pair of night vision goggles and selling them on eBay. 37-year old James Williams of Tucson is scheduled to be arraigned on a charge of theft of government property on May 22.
According to a federal grand jury that returned the indictment, Williams stole the goggles along with a carrying case and battery worth nearly $7,000 and sold them for $3,700. Williams is a contract mechanic who was formerly employed at the CBP aircraft facility in Tucson.
If convicted, Williams could face 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.
