Man with gun arrested at checkpoint

A man was arrested and a handgun was seized at the I-19 Checkpoint in Amado on Monday, May 12. Two men were in a 2007 Chevy pickup and approached the checkpoint when Border Patrol agents asked them to exit the vehicle for further inspection at around 10 a.m.
The driver of the truck, later identified as Ivan Ramirez, told an agent that he was carrying a holstered gun on his waistband under his shirt. Ramirez was turned over to police and is being charged with carrying a concealed weapon. The passenger was not charged and was released.
