Lu sets 2 world records at weightlifting worlds

GOYANG, South Korea (AP) — Lu Xiaojun of China has set two world records to claim two gold medals in the men's 77-kilogram division at the World Weightlifting Championships.

Lu lifted 174 kilograms (383.6 pounds) on his third and final attempt in the snatch Tuesday, beating the previous world record by 1 kg (2.2 pound).

He also hoisted 204 kg (450 pounds) in the clean and jerk. His combined 378 kg (833.34 pounds) won another gold and broke the previous record by 1 kg (2.2 pounds).

Olympic champion Sa Jae-hyouk of South Korea won gold in the clean and jerk after lifting 205 kg (451.94 pounds). He placed fifth in the snatch and fourth in the total weight.
