WASHINGTON (AP) — When he outlines his plans for Afghanistan -- probably next week -- President Barack Obama says the goal will be to "finish the job" there while he's president. Obama told reporters today that he'll reveal his decision on how many additional soldiers to send to Afghanistan after Thanksgiving. He says once he explains what he's doing and why, he expects Americans to be supportive.
NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. State Department says it's now offering a reward of up to $5 million for a Palestinian bomb-maker. The man known as Abu Ibrahim is suspected of once targeting commercial airliners and aiding the Iraq insurgency. He's accused in a spate of bombings in the 1980s.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Authorities say a Kentucky census worker who was found hanging from a tree with the word "fed" scrawled on his chest committed suicide. They say he staged his death to look like a homicide. The body of Bill Sparkman was found in September near a cemetery in southeastern Kentucky. Investigators say he had recently taken out two life insurance policies.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — He says he made the best decision he could at the time. The father of a North Carolina girl who was kidnapped and killed is defending his decision to let the girl live with her mother, who is now charged with child abuse by prostitution. Bradley Lockhart tells NBC that he thought he was making the right choice for the daughter he had raised.
NEW YORK (AP) — Albert Pujols (POO'-hohls) is the unanimous winner of the National League Most Valuable Player award. He's the first player to repeat since Barry Bonds won four in a row from 2001-04. The St. Louis Cardinals star led the majors in home runs, runs scored and slugging percentage.
