ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Health Department officials say four more people have died from swine flu, bringing the statewide total this year to 40 deaths. The latest include a baby boy from Quay County and a 49-year-old man from Bernalillo County, both without chronic medical conditions.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Opponents of a federal wilderness bill for southwestern Dona Ana County have outlined alternatives and asked for a congressional hearing. The bill would loosen restrictions on more than 16,000 acres along the southern border that are designated a Wilderness Study Area.

STANLEY, N.M. (AP) — Santa Fe County Commissioner Mike Anaya says he's pursuing the Democratic nomination for state land commissioner in next year's election. The rancher and resident of Stanley has served on numerous state boards and commissions.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico's ski season is getting under way. Sipapu ski area and Red River Ski Area are open. Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski, Snowshoe Area near Red River and Taos Ski Valley open tomorrow.
