LAS CRCUES, N.M. (AP) — A Dona Ana County mother is charged with felony child abuse after her infant daughter tested positive for cocaine. Court documents say 26-year-old Yvonne Sanchez was originally arrested in October. Documents say her three children were found in a dirty home where there was drug paraphernalia.

LOS LUNAS, N.M. (AP) — A Los Lunas police officer faces a charge of driving while intoxicated and has been suspended for a week without pay. State police say Nikki Baca was off duty when she ran off the road and hit a fence early Thanksgiving Day.

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — A 72-year-old Aztec man is in critical condition after he was hit by a suspected drunk driver and then dragged about 200 feet. Police say Paul Hardy was injured Wednesday and the driver, 46-year-old Fannie Etcitty of Nageezi, had been drinking.

DENVER (AP) — Farmers in Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico have bought newspaper ads thanking U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar for what they say is his cautious approach with oil shale development. Salazar is opting for smaller-scale oil-shale leases that he says are environmentally sensitive.
