FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — Two years ago, Audrey Brown was facing eight years for possession of drugs. But a second chance sent her to treatment, and today, the 34-year-old woman holds a steady job and is rebuilding relationships with her children. She is one of the graduates of Farmington's Methamphetamine Detention Treatment Center, a nationally recognized program that opened a new treatment facility last week.

EUNICE, N.M. (AP) — Hundreds of construction jobs at Louisiana Energy Services' uranium enrichment facility in southeastern New Mexico will be phased out by the end of the year. The reduction has long been expected as the $3 billion National Enrichment Facility moves from construction to operation.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — State Forester Butch Blazer is cautioning New Mexicans about fire danger in parts of the state because of mild conditions and less-than-abundant moisture. Fine grassy fuels and brush in southern and southeastern New Mexico are dry, leaving them susceptible to fire. Blazer says a few fires already have broken out around Carlsbad and Ruidoso.
