OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Tonight is the deadline for University of California admissions applications. Monday night's deadline was extended because of a computer slowdown. The deadline is now 11:59 tonight.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Efforts to recall a Republican state senator who voted to extend tax increases have fallen apart. The California Secretary of State says opponents filed an official "notice of recall" against Diamond Bar Sen. Bob Huff but they never submitted signatures to put the recall on the ballot.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) — The owner of a Sunnyvale motorcycle shop is facing theft and bad check charges for allegedly selling consignment motorcycles and failing to pay owners. Prosecutors say Robin Tolleson he collected more than $65,000 by selling motorcycles for 22 customers, but didn't pay back the consignors.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Silicon's Valley's largest water company is on the hook for millions of dollars after a legal defeat over a fee it charges. Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Kevin Murphy has ordered the Santa Clara Valley Water District to refund $4.6 million, plus interest, it collected in "groundwater extraction fees" from one of its main customers.
