NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks rose in the latest session. The Dow surged nearly 69 points to 10,406. The S&P added 6 and the Nasdaq gained 7 points.

LONDON (AP) — European markets are following Asian stocks higher as a big improvement in China's exports point to rising global demand that could lift other trade-reliant economies. Benchmarks in Tokyo and Hong Kong have been leading Asia's gains, snapping a string of losses.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The government reports this morning on November retail sales. Analysts expect a gain of 0.6 percent. Also this morning, the Commerce Department releases October business inventories. Analysts think supplies fell once again.

BAGHDAD (AP) — International oil companies have been competing today for the biggest stake in Iraq's oil riches being offered in decades. Early on, a consortium led by oil giant Shell won the rights to develop the biggest of 15 Iraqi oil fields being offered in the two-day licensing round.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A final vote is expected in the House today on a sweeping overhaul of Wall Street regulations. Democrats are trying to fend off an amendment that would eliminate the creation of an independent Consumer Finance Protection Agency -- a central part of the legislation.
