EDITORS for Western States:
Starting Monday, Jan. 11, all stories picked up from AP member newspapers that include bylines from the newspapers will be labeled as "An AP Member Exchange" in the editor's note field of the header.
The way AP has labeled such stories has varied from state to state. We want to make the nomenclature consistent so it's easier for editors to search for these stories across multiple states.
Story slugs will be related to the subject matter and will carry the state postal code. The Member Exchange label will be in the editor's note field. For example:
BC-AZ--Calf Roper
Calf roper's ability lassos pro rodeo championship

The Member Exchange designator will replace the following slugs or designations:
- AP Member Showcase (Idaho, Montana, Utah, Oregon, Washington)
- Idaho Feature Exchange
- Nevada Enterprise
- AP Canyon Country Exchange (Utah)
- Cowboy Enterprise (Wyoming)
- Topic (Arizona, New Mexico)
- High Country Enterprise (Colorado)
If you have any questions, please contact your local AP news editor or bureau chief, or you may contact West Desk Editor Traci Carl at tcarl@ap.org.
