KATHRYN, N.D. (AP) — The tiny North Dakota town of Kathryn could face another flood evacuation nearly a year after worried authorities went door to door warning residents to flee as water carved through a nearby dam.
Water is swiftly rising again behind the Clausen Springs Dam. Kathryn's 55 citizens are frustrated nothing's been done to repair or replace the dam that threatens to break and inundate the blink-and-you-miss-it community.
Kathryn is about 60 miles southwest of the state's biggest city of Fargo. The small town's mayor says if the dam were above Fargo, something already would have been done.
Stray cats are sometimes more likely to be seen than residents in Kathryn, which boasts little more than a bar, a post office and a church.
