Marjorie Orbin has been named by Phoenix police as a suspect in her ex-husband's death.

A former Las Vegas showgirl was arrested in the death of her ex-husband, a wealthy Indian arts dealer whose torso was found in a remote area of the desert in October, Phoenix police say.

Sgt. Randy Force with the Phoenix Police Department said Marjorie Orbin was jailed in connection to the death of her ex-husband, Jay Orbin, owner of Jay Hawk International, a Native American art and antiques business.

Force said Margorie Orbin, 44, a former Las Vegas showgirl filed a missing person's report on Sept. 22.

Heavy bank account and credit card activity tipped investigators off that the situation might be more than a missing person's case, Force said.

Among the purchases charged on Orbin's credit cards were two 50-gallon Rubbermaid containers and a roll of black plastic bags purchased at a Lowe's Home Improvement store in Scottsdale, police documents show. Marjorie Orbin is apparently on video tape using this card.

The container Marjorie Obrin purchased is the "exact same container Jay Orbin was found in, down to the color and the UPC label code," the police report says. The plastic bags, according to police documents, are "consistent with the same ones the container was wrapped in when Jay Orbin's partial remains were found."

Investigators also say that witnesses report hearing Marjorie Orbin make threats against her ex-husband's life by "shooting him in the head, wrapping him in a blanket and putting him in the desert," the police report states.

Margorie Orbin, who has appeared on the television show "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," was arrested at about 7 p.m. Monday at her home on north 55th Street without incident.

The couple have an 8-year-old son.

"That's one of the saddest aspects of this case. This little boy’s father, we know, has been killed, and his mother has been jailed for that homicide, and certainly that impacts his young life as well," Force said.

It is not clear whether the boy was placed with family.

Last week, police said Marjorie Orbin's boyfriend, Larry Weisberg, was considered an investigative lead. He has not been named as a suspect.

Orbin's head and limbs have not been found.

The investigation is ongoing.
