Phoenix police are searching for three suspects in an apparent road-rage
incident that's left a Valley family mourning the senseless death of a
20-year-old woman.
Lynsey Chainhalt (right) was killed early Saturday morning in a hail of
gunfire after her SUV was followed off the freeway and into a quiet
Phoenix neighborhood.
It all happened shortly after 2 a.m. Phoenix police said Chainhalt and
her three friends tried to get away from the vehicle that had been
following them, but were cut off near 20th Street and Grovers Avenue. At
that point, three suspects reportedly approached Chainhalt's car and
opened-fire, shooting at the foursome 17 times.
Chainhalt, who was a student at Paradise Valley Community College and
wanted to be a nurse, was pronounced dead a short time later. The three
friends who were with her are recovering from gunshot wounds.
"She was a very giving, sharing, loving person," said Rand MacDonald,
the spokesman for Chainhalt's family.
"For them not knowing this group of guys, for them to pull out with the
weapons that they had and for them to follow them, it should make
everybody angry," said Randall Peterson, a friend of Chainhalt's family.
"It's uncalled for."
Police are looking for three Hispanic males, all between 19 and 22 years
old. They were driving a dark blue Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon with tinted
windows.
