07:13 PM MST on Tuesday, February 20, 2007
Tucson youth can meet the University of Arizona football team this Saturday while learning how to lead a healthy lifestyle.
The Roy Drachman Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson will offer a substance abuse awareness football camp, hosted by the U of A football team and the Export Fellowship Program.
Export aims to eliminate health disparities among minority groups in regards to diabetes and substance abuse.
The athletes will be on hand to organize football drills as part of the learning activities held throughout the day.
An open forum discussion on why a healthy lifestyle is important to achieve success is planned. The curriculum to be discussed is based on the Boys and Girls Club’s America Smart Moves program, which promotes healthy habits among youth.
This event will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Roy Drachman clubhouse located at 5901 S. Santa Clara Road.
