Main post office to provide extended hours on April 17
08:29 PM MST on Thursday, April 12, 2007
Last-minute tax filers will get the opportunity to mail their income tax returns all the way up to midnight on the deadline date.
That date this year has been extended until April 17th because the 15th is on a Sunday and the 16th is a holiday in some states. The extension applies to both federal and state returns.
A news release indicates employees at the Tucson Main Post Office will be collecting tax returns as well as providing full retail services to individuals who still need to file their taxes.
Staff at the post office, located at 1501 S. Cherrybell Stravenue (just south of 22nd Street near Kino Parkway), are also expected to stand in front of the building so that tax filers can have drive-thru convenience.
Residents who wish to avoid crowds are encouraged to mail their income tax returns during working hours.
