Ryan Littman, executive chef at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa, will prepare a meal at the James Beard House on June 28.

A news release indicates the invitation is one of the greatest honors a chef can receive. Littman will prepare a meal for a James Beard Foundation’s special in-house event called “Best Hotel Chefs of America."

The James Beard Foundation is a national non-profit organization that, according to the news release, aims to celebrate, preserve and nurture the United States culinary heritage and diversity.

During his visit to the foundation, Chef Littman is scheduled to prepare a meal for patrons, chefs, wineries, representatives from food publications, people who work in the food industry and for members of the public.

“I am extremely grateful to receive this opportunity to cook at the James Beard House,” Littman said. “Being in the culinary industry, this is truly one of the greatest accomplishments a chef can attain. I look forward to offering guests a taste of our home here in the Southwest.”

Littman was selected to cook at the James Beard House by a chef selection committee made up of food and wine professionals as well as volunteer food enthusiasts who represent the foundation. He is expected to prepare three to five passed hors d’oeuvres and a five to six-course tasting dinner.

The local chef received his degree in culinary arts in 1991 and has served as executive chef at the JW Marriott Starr Pass since it opened in 2005.
