Sediment deposits being removed from Rillito River
08:00 PM MST on Monday, June 25, 2007
A sediment removal project is underway within the Rillito River.
The Pima County Regional Flood Control District, in collaboration with Colorado River Materials, is currently working to remove sediment in the Rillito River between Dodge Boulevard and Campbell Avenue.
A news release indicates workers will remove sediment deposits, which were a result of a record flow event in the Rillito River that occurred on July 31 of last year.
The entire project is expected to take about a month. Temporary closures to the south side of the river park may occur.
Crews are scheduled to work between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information on this project, call (520) 740-6410.
