A major south side road will be closed for one day while a crew works to repair a railroad crossing.
A media release from the City of Tucson indicates Irvington Road will be closed at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing between Fletcher Avenue and Park Avenue starting 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 28.
Message boards have been set up to notify and encourage motorists to travel on Drexel Road and Ajo Way for access around the closure.
Local access is expected to be maintained up to the railroad tracks.
Union Pacific Railroad crews plan to replace deteriorated rails and rebuild the crossing during the closure.
The public should expect delays while driving, bicycling or walking in the work area.
Irvington Road is expected to reopen at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 29.
