TICET shuttle extends hours, routes during underpass construction
06:53 PM MST on Monday, July 23, 2007
Extended hours and more routes are now available to Tucson residents during a major underpass project downtown.
A news release from the City of Tucson indicates the Tucson Inner City Express Transit (TICET) shuttle on the red line has increased its service area to include the University of Arizona, the Fourth Avenue Merchants District, Downtown and the Ronstadt Transit Center during the Fourth Avenue Underpass improvement project.
The improvements will include sidewalk reparations and streetlight installations along Eighth Street between Fourth and Sixth Avenues. Pedestrians will be provided with a safe alternative route to walk between downtown and Fourth Avenue while the underpass is under construction.
Once the work on Eighth Street is complete, pedestrians will not be allowed to walk through the underpass.
This project is expected to cost $26 million and is scheduled to be complete by the fall of 2008.
The Redline TICET shuttle will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until 2:30 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
