Border agents bust meth, pot at I-19 checkpoint

Over seven pounds of methamphetamines and seven bricks of marijuana were discovered by border agents during a routine checkpoint inspection.
A Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agent on August 10 sent the driver of a vehicle to secondary inspection at the checkpoint along Interstate 19 after his canine partner alerted to the presence of contraband.

The marijuana’s street value, which weighed a little over 5 pounds, is estimated at more than $5,600. The methamphetamine’s street value was determined to be over $56,000.
The drugs, vehicle and its two occupants were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
