08:43 PM MST on Wednesday, August 22, 2007
A local event will offer entire families the opportunity to learn various live-saving techniques.
The Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross will host Save a Life Saturday for Families at no cost on September 8.
Those in attendance can visit information booths as well as listen to presentations about bicycle safety, pool safety and home fire prevention tips.
Event Director Sylvia Bracamonte explains, “We offer this fun event every year as a way to help local children and families learn ways to stay safe and prepare for disasters.”
The first 500 children to attend the event will receive a free bike helmet. Also available will be DNA Child Safety Kits at no cost.
Testing will be offered for diabetes and blood pressure as well as CPR and first aid demonstrations.
You are urged to bring old and out of service cell phones to benefit the Red Cross.
Save a Life Saturday for Families will take place from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel, located at 445 S. Alvernon Way.
