An annual butterfly showcase and plant sale is planned in one of Tucson’s nature museums.

The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum will host the 7th annual Butterfly Festival and Fall Plant Sale September 29th and 30 th from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A media release indicates the monsoon season has produced a lush desert bloom. Those in attendance will be able to see the approximately 250 varieties of butterflies found in the Sonoran Desert region.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about butterfly life stages by witnessing caterpillar and chrysalis displays.

A workshop will be offered each day to teach those in attendance how to choose plants and arrange a butterfly garden.

Also planned as part of the festivities is a plant sale to take place between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on both days of the event.

The museum is located at 2021 N. Kinney Road. For further information on this event or the museum, or to see a complete listing of plant species offered, click here.
