A dedication ceremony is planned for a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge in downtown Tucson.

The public is invited to attend the dedication of the Euclid Avenue/Park Avenue Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge, also known as the Basket Bridge. It is 240 feet long and will provide a safe and elevated crosswalk over Park Avenue where it becomes Euclid just south of Broadway.

Several Tucson officials are expected to attend this event including Mayor Bob Walkup, City Councilmember Steve Leal and Pima County Supervisor Richard Elias. Also in attendance will be staff from the Tohono O’odham Nation, the Tucson Department of Transportation, the Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.

This event coincides with the 25th annual University Medical Center El Tour de Tucson. According to a media release, three-time Tour de France winner Greg Le Mond and other special guests will also attend the Basket Bridge dedication ceremony.
