Red Cross launches vehicle donation program
07:55 PM MST on Tuesday, November 27, 2007
An organization that provides emergency relief services is accepting “anything on wheels” as part of a new donation program.
The Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering to get rid of old vehicles at no cost.
Community members will be able to get a tax break with this new program that accepts anything from cars and trucks to RVs and boats.
“This is a great new program that helps people all over the country solve their pesky vehicle problems and give back to their community,” Executive Director Richard White said. “It’s easy, convenient and the benefits are plenty for all!”
If the vehicle donor has a clear title, Red Cross workers will arrange a pick-up for free. Vehicles do not need to run, although they must have an engine and must be able to be towed. When the donated vehicle is sold, the donor will be sent a receipt for their tax records while the proceeds are donated to the Southern Arizona Red Cross.
