Two in custody in homicide case

Two men were taken into police custody after a 55-year old man was shot to death on Saturday, April 12. The dead man, Anthony Montoya was shot at a residence in the 7500 block of Lurlene Drive just before 12:30 p.m.
After the shooting, a relative of Montoya’s followed the shooting suspects in his car. The suspects crashed into a brick wall at Lurlene and South Prudence and were detained by officers a short distance from the crash site.
Witnesses told police a man knocked at the door of the residence and when a second man appeared wearing a mask and armed with a handgun, the resident closed the door. At that point shots were fired through the door wounding Montoya. He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
