Firefighters are starting to get a better handle on the Alamo Fire which has been burning in a remote area west of Nogales since Friday morning, April 18. The human-caused fire, which is burning on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border, has charred over 5,000 acres but is now 75% contained.

No structures have been destroyed, but two ranch properties are threatened and the Pena Blanca campground has been evacuated. 21 engines and 278 firefighters are battling the blaze and two air tankers are on standby. Full containment is expected by Thursday evening, April 24.
