Rosemont Mine hearing is May 12

The first of three forest service public hearings regarding the
Rosemont Mine proposal will be held on Monday, May 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Elgin Elementary School cafeteria. The hearing format will allow those attending to speak about the project, provided their comments are limited to a maximum length of 3 minutes.
The forest service had previously held open houses regarding the proposed mine, but this is the first event that will use the public hearing format. The school is located at 293 Upper Elgin Road in Elgin. Hearings will also be held on Saturday, June 7, at Sahuarita High School, and on Monday, June 30, at an as yet to be announced location.
