Christopher D. Burdon

A Tucson police officer shot and killed 39-year-old Christopher D. Burdon on Monday, May 12.

Officers were called to a vacant lot near a Circle K store on West Grant Road between Stone and Oracle where a man was firing a handgun randomly at citizens. When police arrived at the scene, the suspect pointed a gun at a responding officer. At that point, Officer Luis Campos fired at the suspect after he refused commands to drop the gun.

Officer Campos, an 8-year veteran of the department has been placed on other assignment while the incident is investigated, a standard procedure in such cases.

This is the fifth officer-involved shooting in Tucson this year.
