08:46 PM MST on Monday, May 12, 2008
Two Tucson police officers and a 17-year old man all suffered non-life threatening injuries when a domestic dispute call turned violent on Sunday, May 11. Police were called to the area of East Prince Road and Mountain at about 3 p.m. and were told that the suspect, Travis Hylton, had broken into a house and had his 14-month old child with him.

When police broke down the door a struggle ensued and Hylton stabbed Officer Edward Boyen multiple times and took his gun away from him. Meanwhile Officer Dawn Paglinawan was able to rescue the child and fired one round at Hylton, hitting him in the shoulder. Hylton then fled the residence and fired Boyen’s gun, striking Officer Friedman once in the leg. He was then taken into custody by other officers in a nearby yard.
Hylton is being held in the Pima County Jail on 3 counts of attempted murder. Police say that officers have had nearly 100 contacts with Hylton since the year 2000, resulting in over 50 arrests for criminal offenses.
